What I'm working on

Sep 17, 2025

Hey everyone,
It’s been a while since I’ve made a blog post and figured I should make some sort of ‘check in’ post just to share what I’m doing.

Project 1
I’ve been wanting to update my other neocities site now that this one’s more or less finished. I’m moving away from my WordPress site, and most of the features on the old Neocities site link back to it. My subscription ended but it’s currently still running like normal, so I guess I’m in a grace period or something like that. I was originally going to just slap my code into hugo and go from there, but it wasn’t exactly a one-to-one translation. Whenever I’d render a test version, everything just got all jumbled up and I couldn’t understand why. I then got curious and looked up themes on hugo to see if I’d like one and I ended up really liking this one. A major design overhaul would be nice since this site’s design is a cleaner version of the current design. I thought it’d be simple: just download the files, drop it into your themes folder, then set your theme in the .toml file and you’re good to go, right? Hahaha, WRONG! I followed a whole bunch of tutorials and did the exact steps they’d do but I could not get this theme to work. Eventually, I took some files out of my partials folder and… it worked. I still don’t know why, but that did the trick and the theme was applied to my website. The new problem was that it was made up of a bunch of SCSS files, which I hadn’t even heard of, and I had no idea how to make it my own. After messing with the theme’s code for a while and really trying to make it work, I decided to go in a new direction: just make my own while still heavily referencing the theme.
I’m still playing around with the layout and overall design, but I’m liking where it’s going. This site will be about my game projects and I think this structure is really good for that. Hopefully having this will get me to really get into the nitty-gritty of game development.

Project 2
I’m still working on the gallery for this site and haven’t made significant progress. I’m basically trying to get hugo to convert my artwork into .webp files for faster loading and display it with a description. My original goal was to get it all done before October, but as I think about it and plan more, I realize that I won’t be able to get it done by then. I wanted to get it done before October because I’m going to do an art challenge. It’s not Inktober (though I may do it for my daily sketches), it’s called the Halloween Survival Challenge hosted by OverlordJC. Last year, participants’ original characters were to be drawn as certain things or in certain scenarios (draw your character as a vampire, as a goth, as a mech ect.) If you miss the deadline… your character DIES! (Though, you can still participate; you just won’t be able to get a prize.) This year, we’ll have three characters…That’s all the info given right now but I’m excited!

Project 3
Speaking of Halloween, I’m working on new products for my store. I just have some rough sketches so far but I’m going to have most of these pixelated soon.
I really need to get these finished before October. I’m planning on making most of these stickers and maybe some hats and shirts. Not sure yet. Also, I need to sketch out a few ‘ads’ so I can have something to announce a new wave of products. This is what I made for my summer products, just to give an idea.

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about other things to add to this site. I’ve been looking into comments on my blog posts but I think you have to pay for Disqus, but I did see a free plan so I guess I have to do more research. I’ve also been thinking about adding polls, this could really help me to gauge what you all would want from me (products, illustrations, pixel art, sketches, ect.) Which reminds me that I need to add my contact info… I’ll add it to the about page. \ Well, I think that’s enough for one blog post. I hope writing all this down will encourage me to live up to my expectations haha.
That’s all for today. Later!
